Partners In Care is a community non-profit
organization dedicated to empowering older adults to remain
independent in their own homes. They have been building a
community of support, neighbors helping neighbors, since 1993.
The organization operates as a unique service-exchange program
where members volunteer their time and may receive help when
needed based on a time banking system.
A variety of flexible volunteer opportunities are available.
Volunteer drivers are needed to transport members who can no
longer drive to medical appointments, grocery stores, and help
with errands. Volunteers are also needed to complete minor
handyman repairs; help with non-medical care management and
advocacy; assist in the office; and help with various tasks in
the upscale resale boutique which generates income to support
the organization. Volunteers may work as few or as many hours as
they choose and are not locked into a schedule. Many NSA
retirees are already active as Partners In Care volunteers and
find their experience very rewarding!
Call 410-544-4800 to obtain a volunteer application and make a
reservation for a volunteer orientation. Orientations are
scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on 7 February 2012, 6 March 2012, 10
April 2012, and 8 May 2012 and are also scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
on 9 February, 8 March, 12 April and 10 May. Orientations
will be held at the Partners In Care office which has moved to
90 B Ritchie Highway, Pasadena and now shares a campus with
Hospice of the Chesapeake. The Partners In Care Resale Boutique
remains at 6 South Ritchie Highway and welcomes shoppers and
donations of gently used items.
